W&L's CHAMBERS NAMED ODAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY SCHOLAR-ATHLETE

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee junior Steven Chambers (Christiana, Pa./Octorara Area) has been named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Chambers was selected for the inaugural award by the conference's sports information directors. To be eligible, an athlete must have reached junior athletic and academic standing, be a major contributor to his/her team and claim a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.20 or higher.

A business major with a 3.82 GPA, Chambers earned Second Team All-ODAC honors this season after finishing 11th at the ODAC Cross Country Championships with a time of 29:49.00. He also placed third in the Virginia Division III State Championships, crossing the tape in 27:58.73.

Lynchburg junior Coral McCree was presented with the women's cross country scholar-athlete award.
