ALL-ODAC WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAMS ANNOUNCED
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Seven members of the sixth-ranked Washington
and Lee women's soccer team were honored as the Old Dominion
Athletic Conference announced its all-conference team on Wednesday
afternoon.
Senior forward Fontaine Marcoux (Washington, D.C./Potomac), senior
defender Meghan Hayde (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony), junior
defender Kelley Zagol (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and sophomore
midfielder Kerry Giblin (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./No. Highlands Reg.) all
earned first team nods. Freshman forward Anne Wiltshire (Richmond,
Va./Collegiate) and freshman midfielder Rebecca Cohn (Virginia
Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) were selected for the second team,
while sophomore defender Heather Rogers (Atlanta, Ga./Lovett
School) was an honorable mention selection.
Marcoux is making her third appearance as an All-ODAC honoree. She
was selected for the first team after scoring seven goals and
leading the Generals with nine assists this season. She is
currently the program's all time leader for assists in a season
(12) and assists in a career (36), and ranks second all-time for
points in a career (110).
Hayde and Zagol are both three-time All-ODAC selections and were
tabbed as first team defenders after helping lead W&L to a
program-record 0.49 GAA. Zagol has also added four goals and an
assist to the Generals offensive efforts.
Giblin garnered first team honors after leading the W&L
midfield with eight goals and 16 points.
Wiltshire earned her appointment to the second team after
combining a team-high 13 goals with seven assists for a squad-best
33 points. Cohn also made the All-ODAC second team after she
contributed five goals and four assists on the season.
Rogers rounds out W&L's all-conference selections with an
honorable mention selection. In addition to her work as a defender,
she scored one goal and dished out four assists on the season.
The Generals are currently 15-1-2 overall and return to action on
Saturday when they host the NCAA South Regional Tournament. W&L
advanced to the NCAA tournament after winning its second-straight
ODAC crown and the automatic bid it carries. The Generals will face
Greensboro (13-3-3) at 11:00 a.m.
