MEN'S SOCCER ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM ANNOUNCED
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior defender Peter Miller (Towson,
Md./Baltimore Lutheran), a member of the Washington and Lee men's
soccer team, has been named to the Second Team CoSIDA Academic
All-District squad, which was announced Saturday evening.
Miller was selected for the honor for his performance on the field
and in the classroom. He is a biology major with a 3.26 cumulative
grade-point average, and anchors a defense that allowed just 1.43
goals per game. He also scored two goals and added one assist for
the Generals.
Washington and Lee wrapped up its season on Saturday, falling to
Virginia Wesleyan, 3-1, in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference
Championship game. The Generals end the 2003 campaign with a 7-6-4
overall record and a 3-4-2 mark in the ODAC.
The criteria for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program states
that a player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter
or important reserve and claim a GPA of at-least 3.20 on a 4.0
scale. Washington and Lee is a member of District III, including
players from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
