W&L ELEVATES HOLLY SNYDER TO HEAD ATHLETIC TRAINER

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director Mike Walsh has announced the elevation of Holly Rose Snyder from Associate Athletic Trainer to Head Athletic Trainer. Snyder replaces Tom Jones, who has entered phased retirement following 32 years as the head trainer at W&L.

"I'm really looking forward to this opportunity and making the progression from associate athletic trainer to head athletic trainer at Washington and Lee," said Snyder. "It is very exciting to have this new responsibility in the ever-changing environment of the Washington and Lee athletic department. My time at W&L has been very rewarding and this opportunity will only help to enhance that."

"We are pleased to be able to promote Holly Snyder as Tom Jones' replacement as head athletic trainer," said Walsh. "Holly has been an outstanding associate athletic trainer during her time at W&L, establishing a strong professional reputation and rapport with athletes, coaches and staff. No doubt she will continue the high standard of care and professionalism set by Tom Jones over the past 32 years."

Snyder arrived at Washington and Lee in the fall of 1998 as the graduate assistant athletic trainer while obtaining her master's degree in athletic training from the University of Virginia. She was then hired as the assistant athletic trainer at W&L in the summer of 1999.

"It is fortunate that the University was able to promote from within the department for this position," said Tom Jones. "Holly has superb credentials and is a very hard worker. I wish her the best as she takes over this position."
A 1998 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology, Snyder served as a student assistant trainer at Indiana University for three years prior to arriving at W&L.

Snyder is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association, the American Red Cross and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is a member of the Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association, the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association and the National Athletic Trainers' Association.

An active member in the W&L community, Snyder has served as an advisor to the Student Athlete Mentor Group (SAMS) and the Summer Scholars Program.
