THOMAS AND PLUMMER NAMED TO VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAM
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team had two members named as Second Team Verizon Academic All-District honorees.
Senior Jenny Thomas (High Point, N.C./Central) and sophomore
Molly Plummer (New Orleans, La./Sacred Heart) garnered recognition
for their performances both on the field and in the classroom.
Thomas and Plummer were two of the 22 players on either the first
or second team.
Thomas, who received accolades as an Honorable Mention All-ODAC
performer following the 2000 season, is fifth on the team in
scoring this season with 22 points on eight goals and six assists.
Four of her goals were game-winners. A neuroscience major, she
carries an overall GPA of 3.463.
Plummer is the Generals' leading scorer this season with 32 points
on 13 goals and six assists. An undeclared major, Plummer carries a
3.834 overall GPA.
W&L is currently 14-1-3 overall, and is the 14th-ranked team in Division III. The Generals will face Virginia Wesleyan on Friday at 2:00 pm for a berth in the ODAC championship game.
The Verizon Academic All-District team includes players from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
