W&L'S PRIEST NAMED DIVISION III DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Washington and Lee senior defender Eloise Priest (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens-St. Agnes) was named the Division III Defensive Player of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) prior to the North-South game on June 8.
Priest is the first W&L women's lacrosse player to have
earned a national player of the year award.
In 2002, Priest earned First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State,
First Team All-South Atlantic Region and First Team All-America
honors after spearheading a W&L defense which allowed an
average of just 7.74 goals per game. She caused a team-high 41
turnovers and picked up 35 ground balls.
Priest also earned First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State,
First Team All-South Atlantic Region and First Team All-America
laurels following the 2001 season.
The Generals concluded their season with an overall record of
11-6. W&L advanced to the ODAC Championship game where it was
defeated by Randolph-Macon, 12-11, in overtime.
