ROB MOYNIHAN EARNS VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT HONORS
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior men's tennis player
Rob Moynihan (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) was one of 10 athletes
selected to the 2002 Verizon Men's College Division At-Large
Academic All-District III squad on Wednesday morning. The team was
voted on by members of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors
of America.
Moynihan earned a spot on the team after carrying a 3.60 grade
point average as an accounting major. In addition, Moynihan helped
lead the Generals to an overall record of 13-6 and a No. 20 ranking
in Division III. W&L advanced to the Atlantic South Regional
Final where it was defeated by sixth-ranked Washington College,
4-1.
A team captain this season, Moynihan played predominantly at No. 6
singles and posted a mark of 18-2 en route to being an All-ODAC
selection. Moynihan recorded a career record of 46-17 in singles
competition.
The District III team is composed of 10 members from throughout
the southeastern United States. With his selection to the
All-District Team, Moynihan is automatically entered into
consideration for Academic All-American status.
