LEE-JACKSON LACROSSE CLASSIC SLATED FOR APRIL 3
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Lee-Jackson lacrosse classic between Washington and Lee and neighboring VMI is set to enter its 15th straight season as the two teams will meet on Wed., Apr. 3 at 7:00 pm on the W&L Turf Field.
The Classic, which normally occurs on the fourth Saturday in April, was moved up in the schedule this season due to the addition of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's lacrosse tournament held on that weekend.
Named after Civil War heroes Robert E. Lee (former W&L
President) and Stonewall Jackson (former VMI professor), the game
began in 1988 on W&L's Wilson Field and the Keydets prevailed
15-9. Since that time, W&L has won 13 straight games in the
series, including a 15-5 win last season at VMI's Alumni Memorial
Field.
The Lee-Jackson Lacrosse Classic is sponsored by the City of
Lexington, Virginia Military Institute, Washington and Lee
University and the Rockbridge Area Recreation Organization.
