SALEM, Va. -- The Washington and Lee volleyball team placed two players on the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference team and swept the player of the year, rookie of the year and coach of the year awards in voting by the league's coaches.
Senior middle blocker Lindsay Ruckert (Metairie, La./Sacred Heart) was named to the first team for the fourth consecutive season and earned her third straight player of the year award. Freshman setter Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) earned the rookie of the year award and Bryan Snyder was named the coach of the year. Senior middle blocker Leslie Fischbeck (Pittsburgh, Pa./Woodland Hills) was named to the second team all-conference squad.
Ruckert earned the player of the year award after setting a new W&L record for season kills (446), breaking her own school record of 413. She has posted a .336 hitting percentage and is second on the team in service aces (63) and digs (276).
Lux had perhaps one of the finest seasons ever by a W&L freshman as she set a new school record for season assists (1,124). Lux was third on the team in service aces (53), digs (259) and hitting percentage (.311).
Fischbeck produced her finest season as a General, leading the team in hitting percentage (.386) and blocks (116) and placing third in kills with a career-high 269.
Snyder earned the coach of the year award after leading W&L to a perfect 10-0 conference mark and an ODAC Championship. The second-year head coach has posted a 49-14 overall record during his tenure at W&L, including a 29-4 record this season.
After winning the conference title and receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, the Generals will be competing in the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 8-10 in San Antonio, Texas. W&L will face Christopher Newport in the opening round on November 8.
