LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior attacker Liz Borges (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) has been selected to play in the IWLCA Division III North/South Women's Lacrosse All-Star Game on June 9 in Baltimore, Md.
The game is part of the 2001 STX Lacrosse Festival, an all-day event at Johns Hopkins University. The Division III senior all-star contest is slated to begin at 4:00 pm.
Borges has scored 45 goals and 14 assists this season in leading the Generals to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. She has accumulated 146 career points on 105 goals and 41 assists. With three more points, Borges will pass Nicole Ripken (1992-95) into third place on the W&L career scoring list.
The Winchester, Mass., native was named to the First Team All-ODAC and ODAC All-Tournament Team squads. She also was a two-time ODAC Player of the Week and earned Division III National Player of the Week honors for the week of March 19.
Washington and Lee will face Mary Washington in the first round of the NCAA Division III South Atlantic Regional on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm in Salisbury, Md. The Generals are currently 15-3 overall, the most wins in school history.
