W&L NAMES BRYAN SNYDER HEAD VOLLEYBALL
COACH
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee athletic director Mike Walsh
has announced the appointment of Bryan Snyder as head women's
volleyball coach and assistant women's basketball coach. Snyder
will begin his duties in mid-July.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee claimed six players on the
College Lacrosse USA Division III lacrosse All-America team. The
Generals' six players were the most of any school.

ALL-AMERICANS
GENEVA, N.Y. -- Washington and Lee senior men's lacrosse players
Charlie Antrim (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) and Chris Brown
(Towson, Md./Towson) have been named to the 2000 United States
Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) Scholar All-America
team. A total of 24 Division I, II, and III athletes were named to
the team.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee claimed seven players on the
USILA/STX Division III lacrosse All-America team. The Generals'
seven players were second only to Nazareth's nine.
FRANKE TO STEP DOWN AS W&L'S MEN'S TENNIS
COACH
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director Mike Walsh
has announced that head wrestling and men's tennis coach Gary
Franke will relinquish his duties as tennis coach. He will remain
as the University's head coach of wrestling and assume additional
responsibilities in teaching physical education courses and in game
management.

WINCHESTER, Va. -- Two Washington and Lee student-athletes were
recently honored as selections to the GTE Academic All-District III
Spring At-Large Second-Team. Seniors Ginny Jernigan (Orlando,
Fla./Dr. Phillips) and Jill Kosch (Columbus, Neb./Scotus) earned
spots on the team after stellar spring seasons both on the playing
field and in the classroom.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's tennis team had
four players earn All-America honors based upon their performance
in the NCAA Division III doubles championship held at Gustavus
Adolphus College.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Christian Batcheller (Stuart, Va./Patrick
County) and Ansley Miller (Athens, Ga./Athens Academy) headed the

Batcheller and Miller were named the Pres Brown Outstanding Senior
Male and Female athletes, respectively.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Two members of Washington and Lee's
women's lacrosse team have been honored by being named to the South
Atlantic Regional All-American team. Sophomore defender Eloise
Priest (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's-St. Agnes) was named to thte
first team, while senior attacker Katherine Riddle (St. Clair

SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced the
All-ODAC women's lacrosse team on Friday afternoon. Senior
Katherine Riddle (St. Clair Shores, Mich./Univ. Liggett) and
sophomore Eloise Priest (Alexandria, Va./St. Stephen's-St. Agnes)
earned first team honors, while three additional Generals were
named to the second team.

SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee dominated the Old Dominion
Athletic Conference men's lacrosse postseason honors as eight

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Mike
Walsh has announced that 95 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards
during the recently completed winter term. The students are all
members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade point
average (GPA) of at least 3.500.

At-Large Teams were released on Tuesday morning. Washington and Lee

W&L ANNOUNCES 2000 ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME
INDUCTEES
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee has announced the 13th class
that will be inducted into its Athletic Hall of Fame in a ceremony
to be held on campus on Friday, Sept. 8. The group will also be
honored prior to the Generals' football game against Johns Hopkins
University on Saturday, Sept. 9. This year's class includes Buck
Leslie '49 (deceased), Joe McCutcheon '51, Jay McDonald '23, and
W&L's 1950 football team which played in the 1951 Gator
Bowl.

RADFORD, Va. -- For the fifth consecutive season, Washington and
Lee women's swimming coach Kiki Jacobs Moore has been named the Old
Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. The Generals made a
clean sweep of the postseason honors as sophomore Katie Kennedy
(Delran, N.J./Delran) garnered Swimmer of the Year honors.

the preseason accolades for the Washington and Lee men's lacrosse
program are already rolling in. W&L is ranked fifth in the
preseason rankings by Faceoff 2000 Men's College Lacrosse Yearbook.
In addition, seven Generals are cited as preseason All-Americans in

WINGATE, N.C. -- Washington and Lee senior outside hitter Nancy
Reinhart (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) was recently honored with a
selection to the GTE Academic All-District III Volleyball
First-Team. Reinhart is the first volleyball player in W&L
history to be honored to the first-team.

postseason football honors on Tuesday, November 23. Washington and
Lee senior quarterback Christian Batcheller (Stuart, Va./Patrick

Washington and Lee University, resigned today to explore other
employment opportunities. Jeff Lafave, who served as Moore's

recently named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)
preseason favorite for the upcoming season. Voting was conducted by
the conference's coaches.
ITA Honors 1998-99 Washington and Lee Men's Tennis
Team
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee Men's Tennis Team has
recently been named to the 1998-99 Academic All-American Team by
the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The squad also had
two team members honored as ITA Division III Scholar-Athletes. The
individuals receiving the award were Scott Babka (Little Silver,
NJ/Christian Brothers), and David Lehman (Belle Mead,
NJ/Montgomery).
W&L Women's Swimming Team Named Academic
All-Americans
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee Women's Swimming team was
recently honored as an Academic All-American Team by the College
Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Two W&L
swimmers also reaped individual accolades from the CSCAA. Margaret
Hoehl (Tullahoma, TN/Tullahoma) was named as an individual Women's
Division III Academic All-American. On the men's side, James Browne
(Ontario, Canada/Univ. of Toronto) achieved Honorable Mention
All-American status.
Former General Tom Keigler to be Inducted to
Lacrosse Hall of Fame
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Former Washington and Lee lacrosse standout Tom
Keigler is to be inducted into the National Lacrosse Foundation
Hall of Fame in Baltimore, Md., on October 29. A 1977 graduate,
Keigler will be the fourth General to receive the honor. Ted Bauer
was inducted in 1992, Skeet Chadwick was inducted in 1993, and Skip
Lichtfuss made an entrance in 1994. All three graduated from
W&L in 1974.

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee women's swimming coach Kiki
Jacobs Moore is slated to be inducted into the Dickinson College

TRAINER
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Mike
Walsh has announced the hiring of Holly Marie Rose as associate
athletic trainer at the University. Rose spent the 1998-99 school
year as a graduate assistant trainer with the Generals.
W&L MEN'S LACROSSE LEADS NATION IN SCORING
DEFENSE
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's Lacrosse team went
13-2 during the 1999 season, garnering a number of different
honors. The Generals will add another as they led the NCAA Division
III in scoring defense by allowing an average of just 5.2 goals per
game.
