LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's and women's soccer teams and the field hockey team all qualified for their respective Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournaments, which start on Saturday, November 2nd.
The men's soccer team enters Saturday's quarterfinal as the four seed. W&L went 9-2-5 overall and 7-2-2 in the conference during the regular season. Junior forward Zach Colby (Prairie Village, Kan. / Shawnee Mission East) has 13 goals and one assist to lead the Generals, while junior midfielder Al Organ (St. Paul, Minn. / DeLaSalle) has notched 11 points on four goals and three assists. The Blue & White hosts fifth-seeded Hampden-Sydney (9-5-3, 6-3-2 ODAC) on Saturday at 3:00 pm. It will be the second time the Tigers have made the trek to Lexington this year, after losing to the Generals on September 18, 2-0. The women's soccer team is the two seed in its bracket, after finishing 15-2-1 in the regular season and 11-1 in the ODAC. Junior midfielder Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va. / Norfolk Academy) leads the team with 23 points on eight goals and seven assists. Junior midfielder Haley Ward (Federal Way, Wash. / Federal Way) is just three points behind Beasley with 20 points on six goals and eight assists. The squad hosts seventh-seeded Randolph-Macon (7-10, 5-7 ODAC) on Saturday at 12:00 pm. In the previous meeting this year, the Generals earned a 4-0 home victory on September 21. The field hockey team returns to the ODAC Tournament as the six seed after qualifying as the four seed last season. The Generals ended the 2013 regular season 5-14 overall and 3-5 in the ODAC. Senior Lauren Boone (Louisville, Ky. / Collegiate) leads W&L with five goals and one assist, while sophomores Charlotte MacDonald (Bluemont, Va. / Foxcroft) (3g, 3a) and Sydney Tomaso (St. Louis, Mo. / Villa Duchesne) (4g, 1a) are tied for second on the team with nine points. The Generals travel to three-seeded Randolph-Macon (9-9, 6-2 ODAC) on Saturday. The time is yet to be determined. R-MC defeated the Generals earlier this season, 3-1, on October 26.
