W&L Names Alison Kapuska Assistant Athletic Trainer
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced the appointment of Alison Kapuska as assistant athletic trainer. Kapuska will begin her appointment on February 16.
"I'm excited to welcome Alison to Washington and Lee and the athletic training staff," said Head Athletic Trainer Josh Williamson. "She has gained tremendous experience thus far in her career and will no doubt provide outstanding care for W&L athletes."
Kapuska comes to W&L after serving as an intern athletic trainer at the University of Tampa for the 2010-11 school year. In this role, she was responsible for providing injury prevention and care for the Spartans’ volleyball team.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to work at Washington and Lee,” said Kapuska. “I was attracted to the rich tradition, history and pride W&L has to offer, and I look forward to working with the athletes and staff."
A 2008 graduate of Saint Cloud State with a bachelor of arts in athletic training, Kapuska served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Grand Valley State from 2008-10. She earned a master of education in higher education from GVSU where she performed care for a number of sports and was a clinical instructor in the undergraduate curriculum.
Kapuska’s experience also includes performing duties as as a student-assistant athletic trainer at Saint Cloud St., working with women’s hockey, football, track & field, soccer, baseball and wrestling. She is an NATA-BOC and a Florida certified athletic trainer. She is also certified in CPR and AED devices and holds a basic EMT certification.
