W&L FOOTBALL TO PLAY WILKES IN NCAA FIRST ROUND CONTEST
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released its bracket for the 2006 Division III Football Championship on Sunday afternoon and Washington and Lee will be heading to Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to take on Wilkes University in the opening round.
The unbeaten Colonels (10-0) will host the game on Saturday, November 18 at 12:00 pm.
The Generals (7-3) will play in the top half of the bracket against schools from the north, including top-seeded Mount Union College. Should the Generals defeat Wilkes in the opening round, they would then take on the winner of a contest between Rowan (7-2) and Hobart (8-1) on November 25. The Division III Championship game (Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl) will be held in Salem, Va., on December 16.
