FOUR GENERALS SELECTED TO NCAA WOMEN'S TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The top-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team had two individuals and two doubles teams selected to the NCAA Division III Championships.
Junior Emily Applegate (Charleston, S.C./Porter-Gaud) and freshman Katie Tabb (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) will participate in the singles competition. Applegate, who will be seeded third at the NCAA Championships, has posted a team-best 25-3 singles mark, while Tabb has notched a 22-5 record in her rookie campaign.
Applegate will partner up with junior Kristen McClung (Charleston, W.Va./Charleston Catholic) to form one of the doubles teams. The duo went 14-5 on the season. The other doubles team is Tabb and junior Ginny Wortham (Richmond, Va./Collegiate), which posted a team-best record of 17-3.
Wortham is a two-time All-American in doubles, while Applegate and McClung both earned All-America honors in doubles last season.
The singles and doubles championships will be held from May 20-22 at the University of California-Santa Cruz.
