TWO GENERALS NAMED TO ALL-SOUTH MEN'S SOCCER TEAM

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee seniors Peter Miller (Towson, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) and Brian Pirkle (Lexington, Va./Woodberry Forest) were named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-South Region Team, which was released recently.

Miller was named to the second team, while Pirkle was placed on the third team.

A defender, Miller was named to the second team for the season straight season after starting all 16 games and totaling seven points on one goal and five assists. He also captained the defensive unit which allowed an average of just 1.48 goals per game and posted four shutouts. A two-time First Team All-ODAC selection, Miller finished his career with three goals and seven assists.

A midfielder, Pirkle earned third team accolades for the second consecutive season. He started all 16 games in 2004, totaling team-highs in points (17), goals (6) and assists (5). A First Team All-ODAC selection this season, Pirkle completed his career ranked in the Top 10 all-time at W&L in goals (23), assists (14) and points (60).

Washington and Lee finished the 2004 season with a 6-7-3 overall record, 3-3-3 in the ODAC. The season ended with a 3-0 loss to Guilford in the ODAC Tournament.
