W&L Claims the 2015 ODAC Overall Sports Champion Cup

FOREST, Va. — For the 13th-consecutive year, Washington and Lee University has claimed the Dan Wooldridge Overall Sports Champion Cup, as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Wednesday. The Generals also claimed Women’s Commissioner’s Cup on their way to the overall title for the 2014-15 school year.

Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance is the proud sponsor for the Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup and the ODAC Men and Women's Commissioner's Cups.

As determined by the ODAC Board of Directors, points for the ODAC Commissioner's Cups are based on regular-season standings in team sports and championship team finishes in individual/meet sports.  Each institution has a total number of possible points it can collect based on its sport sponsorship.  The total number of points earned is then divided by the total number of possible points to determine the rating for each institution.

Washington and Lee collected 171.0 of a possible 225.0 points for a 0.760 rating to win its 19th overall cup. Randolph-Macon claimed second (.711), while Bridgewater took third (.675).

W&L secured the women’s cup by a healthy margin over Randolph-Macon. The Generals registered an .847 rating compared to a .789 mark for the Yellow Jackets. The Blue and White has won 12 straight women’s cups and 15 overall.

On the men’s side, Virginia Wesleyan secured a .716 rating to win its first ODAC Men’s Commissioner’s Cup, snapping a two-year run for the Generals.  Bridgewater was second at .699 and W&L was third with a .664 rating.

The Generals have compiled a 186-113-3 (.621) overall record during the 2014-15 school year thus far. The Blue and White took home ODAC Championships in volleyball, men’s swimming, women’s swimming, women’s golf, women’s tennis, men’s tennis and women’s lacrosse.
