FOREST, Va. – Washington and Lee junior Holley Beasley (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) and first-year Marshall Hollerith (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) have been honored as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week in their respective sports for the week ending September 29.
Beasley was selected as the Women's Soccer Player of the Week, while Hollerith was named the Football Offensive Player of the Week.
A midfielder, Beasley led the Generals to a 2-0 week in ODAC action, notching four points on two goals.
In a 1-0 win over Roanoke on Tuesday, she posted the game-winning goal at the 62:54 mark to keep the Generals undefeated at home. Against Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday, Beasley netted the contest's lone goal with just 31 seconds remaining in double-overtime to help the Generals claim the 1-0 road victory.
Beasley currently leads the team with 12 points on four goals and four assists. She has registered a goal in three straight games.
A running back, Hollerith helped lead the football team to a 35-24 win over Sewanee on Saturday. In his first career start, he rushed for 151 yards and three touchdowns on just 22 carries as the Generals racked up 458 yards on the ground as a team. The win improved W&L to 2-1 on the season and increased the Generals' home winning streak to 16 straight games, the third-longest home winning streak in Division III.
The women's soccer team (8-1, 4-0) returns to action on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm contest at Hollins. The football team (2-1) will entertain Guilford on Saturday at 7:00 pm.
