FOREST, Va. — The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its 2012-13 All-Academic Team on Tuesday and Washington and Lee once again led the league in number of athletes honored.
W&L totaled 282 (16 more than last year and 30 more than 2010-11) of the conference-record 1,445 total All-Academic Team members named from the 17 member institutions. Next on the list was Lynchburg with 151 and Bridgewater with 150 honorees.
Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team is open to any student-athlete that competes in a conference-sponsored sport, regardless of academic class. He or she must achieve at least a 3.25 grade-point average for the year to be considered for an ODAC All-Academic Award.
Among the Generals’ 282 honorees were 45 First Team All-ODAC selections from throughout the 2012-13 year. The Blue and White compiled a 191-123-4 (.607) overall record during the 2012-13 school year.
The Generals took home ODAC Championships in seven sports (women’s swimming, women’s lacrosse, football, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, women’s cross country and volleyball), and had eight athletes garner the conference’s scholar-athlete of the year awards in their sport. W&L also claimed the ODAC’s Dan Wooldridge Overall Champions Cup for the 11th-straight year and the 17th time in the last 19 years.
