EVANSTON, Ill. – The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently announced its 2014 Spring CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams for the 2013-14 school year and both Washington and Lee swimming squads were recognized.
The Team Scholar All-American Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester and again in the spring to recognize teams achieving a 3.0 in the semester coinciding with the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The W&L men were one of 92 Division III swimming and diving programs to be recognized. The Generals placed 21st with a 3.34-combined team GPA. The men of Principia posted the highest team average with a 3.54.
The women’s team was among 139 Division III squads honored, coming in 110th-place with a combined team GPA of 3.30. Whitworth had the highest average among women’s teams at 3.70.
The men concluded their season with an 8-2 overall record and a 10th-place finish at the BMC Championships. The women finished their season with a 9-2 record en route to earning their seventh-consecutive ODAC title and the 24th in program history.
