W&L's Jessee and Rollo Recognized by ODAC
LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee first-years Tricia Jessee (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) and Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) have been honored as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Week in their respective sports for the week ending October 20th.
Jessee was selected as the Women’s Soccer Player of the Week, while Rollo was named the Swimmer of the Week.
A forward, Jessee led the Generals to a 2-0 week in ODAC action, notching 11 points on five goals and one assist.
In a 5-0 win over Guilford on Wednesday, she led the offensive attack with two goals in the second half to secure the victory. In the 10-0 triumph over Sweet Briar, she notched her first career hat trick with goals in the 18th, 25th and 51st minutes to go along with her assist. Jesse currently sits third on the team in points with 15 off of seven goals and one assist.
The soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, when it hosts Shenandoah for a 4:00 pm contest.
Rollo collected Swimmer of the Week laurels after posting five first-place performances over the weekend. In the loss to Mary Washington on Friday, Rollo won the 100 back and 200 back, clocking in at 1:02.78 and 2:14.38, respectively. She also finished second in the 200 IM, touching the wall in a time of 2:16.99.
At the ODAC Relays on Saturday, Rollo captured three more wins as a member of the 150 back relay (1:24.92), 100 dolphin-kick relay (56.18) and the 300 IM relay (3:10.40), helping W&L take first out of nine teams with 448.5 total points.
The swimming team returns to the pool on Saturday, when it travels to Randolph-Macon. Action is set to begin at 12:00 pm.
