About the Facility

The New Cap'n Dick Smith Field or "Smith Field" was completed in the spring of 1999 at a cost of $1.8 million.  The stadium replaced the Old Cap'n Dick Smith Field which was located in the area that is now occupied by Watt Field.

Smith field currently resides in a picturesque setting surrounded by pine trees on the back portion of the campus.  The stadium includes permanent seating for 350 spectators and a 1,056 square-foot building which houses a press box, concession area, and restrooms.

The facility also features lights, sunken dugouts with restrooms, water fountains, and storage areas, two enclosed bullpens, a 2,340 square-foot building with two indoor hitting cages, and a state-of-the-art public address/sound system.

The outfield fence measures eight-feet high, except in right field where it towers at 16 feet and is 400-feet to straight away center, 320 to right, 330 to left, 365 to right center, and 370 to left center. Also, beyond the left-center field fence is a 36-foot long scoreboard.
