Diana Banks - Yoga; Strength and Conditioning

 

Sonia Brozak- Group Cycling

Sonia Brozak is recently certified as a group fitness instructor by the American Council on Exercise. Originally from New York, she has been spinning for six years now at studios all across the city. With an understanding of different styles, approaches, and philosophies held at the top indoor group cycling programs in the country, Sonia brings her own interpretation of the best to her classes. She is an experienced triathlete and marathoner, and appreciates group cycling as a part of a greater healthy lifestyle. She loves all varieties of music, uses engaging choreography, and welcomes anybody to come get their sweat on in her classes.

 

Christine Clancy- TRX

Christine is an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and the Head Women's Basketball Coach at W&L. She was a two sport (basketball and tennis) Division III athlete at Brandeis University. Christine has been teaching PE classes for 6 years (classes include golf, tennis, badminton, basketball, team sports, and weight training) and coaching for 9 years. She holds a Masters of Science in Exercise and Sports Studies from Smith College. After attending and participating in the TRX group fitness classes, she is excited to be certified and teaching this year!

Jessie Knadler- Fit Fusion


A lifelong devotee of fitness, Jessie Knadler has been practicing Pilates and yoga for 13 years and received her certification from Stott Pilates in 2008. Since then, her class has evolved to include a blend of styles that inspire her, drawing from Pilates, yoga, and muscular structure strength training. By day, she is a writer and journalist. Her articles and stories have appeared in Newsweek, the Wall Street Journal, Women's Health, among many others. She is the author of Rurally Screwed: My Life Off the Grid with a Cowboy (Berkley/Penguin, 2012) and the cookbook Tart & Sweet (Rodale, 2011). She lives in Rockbridge County with her husband and her daughter.

Kristen McCabe- Pilates


I am a 1995 graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a B.S. in Athletic Training. I studied dance for 18 years and have been faithfully practicing yoga and pilates since 2002. I returned to UNLV in May of 2011 to earn my Mat Work I and II Pilates certification. I continued my Pilates education in April 2012 with workshops in "Pilates for Golf" and "Pilates for Stress Management". Besides my love for dance, yoga and teaching pilates, I love to cook. I live in Lexington with my husband, Gene and our 4 daughters Kaelan, Molly, Ava, and Georgia. Hope to see you in my class!

Rolf Piranian- TRX

Rolf,  an Associate Professor in PE, is a 1974 graduate of W&L. He was a three sport athlete at W&L ( Soccer , Wrestling , and Lacrosse). He is an avid user of TRX and is carries a second level certification in the TRX education program.

Heather Roberts- Sport Circuit Boot Camp

Heather Roberts recently moved here from Oregon where she taught group exercise classes at LA Fitness and Bally's and even a high school aerobics class.  She has taught a variety of classes including kick box, pilates, water exercise, weights and boot camp.  She loves the high energy and teamwork that group exercise brings.  In addition to teaching, she is the women's basketball coach at Southern Virginia University.  Start your day off with a cardio/strength packed workout with Sport Circuit in the mornings. 

Jeff Shay- Group Cycling


Jeff has been teaching group cycling since first getting hooked in 1996. He's an avid sailor, golfer, skier, and mountain biker and loves the outdoors. After graduating from college he raced on the US Alpine Pro Ski Tour. He also loves his day job as the Johnson Professor of Entrepreneurship and Leadership at the Williams School. Come join him for an early (and I mean early) morning workout and start your day off with a bounce in your step!

Rachael Sushner: 

Rachael Sushner is an Assistant Professor of Physical Education and the Assistant Women's Soccer Coach at W&L. She played collegiate soccer at Skidmore College and later played professionally for the Boston Breakers Reserve Team. Rachael has her BFS Strength Training Certification and was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Wellesley College prior to arriving at W&L in the summer of 2013. Rachael is a fitness fanatic and believes whole-heartedly in the Insanity Workout motto: "The work doesn't start until you're tired."
